Having a job that didn’t reward the work I did was tough.
Putting in the hours, only to be all-but ignored.
But I’ve since learned to follow a different belief: that my skills can always be put to good use elsewhere.
Today’s real winners are not those that can do one job at one company well. It’s the people that can develop key skills to be transferred into other industries or roles.
The bottom line is whether you’re using your skills at a company, your business, or in a franchise, you have to know your skills.
If you aren’t 100% clear on your top skills, try this exercise: Update your LinkedIn’s “Skills & Endorsements” section.
You can have up to 50 skills, but I would challenge you to keep it to 10. What are the things you find easy that a lot of your friends find hard, or need help with?
Those are your skills, and that’s where your value lies.
Do you agree with my approach?
